Sinus Lift Surgery

Before getting dental implants, a sinus lift surgery may be needed. At Mission Peak Dental Care, we are dedicated to getting you a beautiful smile for many years to come. With the highest form of technology and expertise, we love creating new smiles for you and your family.

What is Sinus Lift Surgery?

Sinus lift surgery is the practice of incorporating additional bone material between the upper jaw and the maxillary sinuses. The new bone will enrich your molars and premolars to strengthen dental implant placement.

In order to accommodate new bone, the sinus membrane must be “lifted” in an upward motion.

Do I Need a Sinus Lift?

You may be a candidate to receive sinus lift surgery if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Missing teeth located on the upper jaw
  • Insufficient bone due to gum disease
  • Bone reabsorption as a result of deterioration over time

How Does it Work?

We will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your mouth and teeth. Using x-rays and capturing digital images, we will have a better idea of where a sinus lift is needed. Typically, the bone used during the procedure can either be:

  • Autogenous: Bone harvested from elsewhere in your body
  • Allogenous: Bone harvested from a cadaver
  • Xenogenous: Bone harvested from an animal (i.e. cow)

The bone material will be added as your sinus is lifted, and the healing period varies from person to person.
